Coaching Philosophy?
I want to be part of creating a positive, inclusive atmosphere where people can surprise themselves with their strength and achievements. I want to share the mental toughness and physical confidence I have developed, and help people install a lifelong fitness habit. I am particularly passionate about helping people who have never pictured themselves as athletes. As a Type 1 diabetic, I have found working around a chronic illness has given me a strong appreciation for every moment I feel strong and well. I love getting creative with modifications and scaling to make CrossFit work for anyone who wants to participate. I’m also always plotting ways to get athletes to enjoy running.

Year you started CF, how you found it?
I went to a free CrossFit intro in 2015 with a friend and found that I absolutely loved the intensity, structure, and community. The movements have never been easy or natural for me, I have to learn everything step by step. I love being coached and I’m proud of every incremental improvement. I also got lucky and married a CrossFit coach. She gets a lot of credit for my skill and knowledge.

Athletic Background?
I was a theater kid, no sports. I liked being active outdoors though, and did running, mountain biking, and rock climbing for fun. I’ve competed in mountain bike triathlons, 5ks, Master’s track, and Strengthlifting. My plan is to outlast my competition and win lots of medals in my eighties or nineties.

What do you do outside the box?
I love running, swimming, and riding bikes. I spend most of my time taking care of my three little kids. They get heavier all the time, so I keep getting stronger.

Favorite food?
Coffee, chocolate, peanut butter, and berries.
